JOBS AT TAIMATE

Due to recent acquisitions of property and highly valued staff recently retiring, we have two positions available at Taimate Angus. 

Taimate Angus is a premier Angus cattle breeding operation renowned for producing high-quality, top-performing livestock. With a focus on superior genetics, sustainability, and animal welfare, Taimate Angus prides itself on delivering exceptional cattle that thrive across a range of diverse environments. 

We are farming 1400ha across 3 properties, all within a 5km radius, in Ward, Marlborough - 30 minutes south of Blenheim.

We are one of NZ's leading Angus Studs, selling genetics across the world. Our herd is building towards 400 registered cows with the majority of all progeny taken through and sold for breeding. 

Lamb finishing and cattle trading programmes as seasons dictate - (currently 6000-8000 lambs/yr).

MECHANIC GENERAL/HANDY MAN
This is an ideal position for a Qualified Mechanic who would like variety, a rural lifestyle, and a great team environment.
  • Servicing and repairs to all farm vehicles and machinery.
  • Repairs and day to day maintenance of stock water systems (there is no irrigation).
  • General handyman skills advantageous for upkeep/minor repairs to sheds and dwellings. 
  • Some stockwork will be required in busy times, which we would expect the applicant would view as a positive bringing variety to their role.  
  • Reportable to the owner and stock manager.
GENERAL/STOCKMAN/FENCER
Develop/utilise your skills, while enjoying variety and job satisfaction, working within a high performing Angus herd.
  • All aspects of everyday pastural farming.
  • Position is predominantly stockwork focused, with general farm fencing repair and maintenance in quieter times.
  • 2-3 working dogs required.
  • Reportable to the owner and stock manager.

DETAILS RELEVANT TO BOTH ROLES:
  • Working with pedigree stud stock requires care in what you do - high attention to detail is an absolute must.
  • Some race horses bred on property, any skill/interest in horse handling beneficial.
  • Successful applications will be well looked after, with attractive salary package to suit experience.

  • Applicants will need to be honest, reliable, have a strong work ethic, and take pride in what they do. 
  • Need to be able to work well in a team or individually.
  • Endless hunting & fishing opportunities all within close proximity. A great community, with local sporting clubs including Dog Trails and Rugby, Netball, Hockey.
  • Accommodation :  3-bedroom or 4-bedroom home are available for these positions. Both house options have primary and secondary school buses to the gate and are between 1-5km to the local Ward Primary School and township.
